The problem
The business energy industry isn't broken.
Some of the people selling it are.

01
The industry is known for having hidden margins, disguised in different ways and you probably have no real idea how much. They tend to prefer it that way.

02
Different suppliers pay different commissions, and you'll never guess whose deal tends to come back as "the best one" for the broker. Probably won't surprise you.

03
Auto-renewals, evergreen contracts, eye-watering exit fees. These are the kind of terms you don't really notice until you try to leave, and by then it's usually too late.
We're not trying to be a slightly better version of every other broker. We're trying to be a different kind of broker, the kind this industry should have built years ago.

01
We'll show you the deal, what we earn from it, and exactly why we're recommending it. All of that before you sign anything, every single time.

02
Cheapest isn't always best. Some businesses need budget certainty, others want lower carbon, and some are after more contract flexibility. We start by working out what matters most to you, then build the deal around that.

03
We're not trying to be slightly better than the broker down the road. We're trying to be the one Ofgem points to and says "do it like them." That's the bar we're building to.

Where the money goes
Telling you what we earn before you sign is just the start. Our goal is to be every bit as open about where that money goes once we've earned it.
We're committed to bettering our local communities and the causes that matter to our people, and we want our clients to be able to see exactly how their fees support that. That's the standard we're working towards.
HOW IT WORKS
From the first call to a signed contract, you'll always know where you stand. No mysteries, no assumptions, no nasty surprises in the small print.

1
We start by asking what matters to your business. Cheapest unit rate? Lowest carbon? Budget certainty? Contract flexibility? Once we know, the rest of the process flows from there.

2
We search the UK supplier market, not just the suppliers who pay us best. Every option weighed on its merits, not on what's good for our commission.

3
You get our recommendation in plain English, with the unit rate, our fee, what we earn, and exactly why this deal is right for you. All of that on a single page, all of it before you sign anything.

4
You sign, we place the deal, and then we stick around. We'll answer your questions, sort out problems as they come up, and flag your renewals in plenty of time. We don't disappear once the commission lands.
HOW WE WORK
Three things we promise. In writing. To every client.
You'll see what your deal costs and what we earn from it, in writing, every single time. No exceptions, no negotiations, no "special cases" reserved for the difficult conversations.
Every pound we earn gets split across published categories, and we publish the breakdown every year, line by line. No hand-waving, no aggregated "business expenses."
If something doesn't go to plan, you've got a clear escalation path with binding timelines that hold us accountable, not you. We're ADR-backed and Energy Ombudsman registered.
Our standards
01
Ask us anything and you'll get the straight answer. No hidden margins, no small print traps, and none of that "commercially sensitive" stuff that some brokers hide behind.
02
Every business needs something different, so we listen before we recommend. What you tell us shapes the deal, not the other way around.
03
When industry practice starts to feel a bit too comfortable, that's usually when we get suspicious. Comfort in energy brokerage tends to mean someone else is paying for it, and that someone is normally the customer.
04
We stand behind every deal we place. If we said it, we'll deliver it, and if we got something wrong, we'll fix it. Simple as that.
INSIDE THE INDUSTRY
Who we are
Our leadership has worked across the UK energy industry for decades. We've built and exited a major outsourcing business serving the country's biggest suppliers, and we've run customer acquisition, service and retention operations for some of the leading names in the sector. So we know how this industry works.
And we've seen it from every angle, which means we've also seen what works, what doesn't, and what badly needs to change. Betr Business is our answer to that.
Questions answered
Straight answers to the questions we get asked most.
Fair question. We earn a fee on every deal we place, paid by the supplier (that’s how brokerage works in this industry). What’s different about us is that we tell you the fee upfront, in writing, before you sign anything. There’s nothing hidden, and nothing snuck quietly onto your unit rate.
The transparency commitment isn’t a marketing line. It’s written into our standard contracts. Our annual allocation report is published, public, and there’s no version where we quietly drop it. If we walked away from it, we’d be walking away from the whole reason we exist.
Most brokers who say they’re “transparent” will admit a fee exists if you push them on it. We tell you the exact figure before you sign anything, and we publish where that fee goes every year, category by category and line by line. There’s a real difference between admitting and disclosing.
Energy brokerage in the UK is moving toward formal regulation. Ofgem is leading the work on standards for third-party intermediaries. We’re engaged with that process, and we already hold ourselves to the highest published standard, including ADR scheme membership through the Energy Ombudsman. Whatever the regulator sets as the bar, we want to be ahead of it.
We work with all sizes, from SMEs through to mid-market and industrial & commercial sites. Whether your annual energy spend is £20,000 or £2 million, the same rules apply: same fee disclosure, same standard, same approach.
Yes, and we’d love you to. Drop us a line and we’ll send across our sample recommendation template along with the fee disclosure. You’ll see exactly what every Betr Business client sees before they sign anything.
